Understanding the Results
MRR Components
- Monthly MRR: Revenue from monthly subscriptions, calculated as (monthly price × number of monthly customers)
- Annual MRR: Revenue from annual subscriptions converted to monthly equivalent (annual price × number of annual customers ÷ 12)
- Total MRR: Combined monthly equivalent revenue from both monthly and annual plans
Revenue Changes
- New MRR: Additional revenue from new customers joining each month
- Churn: Lost revenue from customers canceling their subscriptions
- Monthly plans: Customers can cancel each month
- Annual plans: Customers can only cancel at renewal
- Expansion: Additional revenue from existing customers
- Monthly plans: Monthly expansion rate applied to current MRR
- Annual plans: Annual expansion rate applied at renewal
- Contraction: Reduction in revenue from existing customers
- Monthly plans: Monthly contraction rate applied to current MRR
- Annual plans: Annual contraction rate applied at renewal
